From KEMA-KEUR to DEKRA Mark

KEMA-KEUR is originally a Dutch company that provides the quality mark for the safety of electrical equipment. KEMA stands for Keuring van Elektrotechnische Materialen Arnhem, it was founded in 1927. DEKRA Mark is a German company that focuses on providing inspections, certificates and testing services. They are active in various sectors, such as the automotive industry, infrastructure, industry, energy and environmentally friendly product development. The aim of DEKRA Mark is to contribute to the safety and sustainability of processes and products. This should ultimately lead to improved product quality for consumers and employees. DEKRA Mark took over KEMA-KEUR years ago (2009). In the future, DEKRA Mark will increasingly be presented as a quality mark, replacing KEMA. How exactly this happened and what this means for the future is explained in this article.

History of Dekra Mark

The German company DEKRA Mark was founded in 1925. It was originally intended as a vehicle inspection organization. In the beginning after its foundation, the company focused on ensuring safety with regard to vehicles. The company later expanded its activities to other sectors, such as industry and environmental inspection. Today, DEKRA Mark is active in various industries and is important in the field of quality assurance and safety.

Transition from KEMA-KEUR to DEKRA Mark

In 2009, DEKRA Mark acquired the subsidiary KEMA Quality B.V. As a result of this acquisition, DEKRA Mark has an exclusive license to issue the KEMA quality mark. In 2021, DEKRA Mark was used for the first time as a second quality mark for electrical products. Initially, in addition to the existing KEMA-KEUR quality mark, to gradually take over the baton from KEMA-KEUR and thus only carry the DEKRA quality mark. DEKRA Mark has the same quality procedures, international agreements and product safety standards as KEMA had.

Activities DEKRA Mark

DEKRA Mark provides all kinds of services. These include vehicle inspections, certifications, inspections/testing and advice. These services are explained in more detail below.

- Vehicle inspections:
The vehicle inspections by DEKRA Mark are known worldwide. These are all kinds of technical inspections regarding car safety, to damage assessments.
- Certifications:
Organizations receive certifications from DEKRA Mark when they meet the various standards. These standards include ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. These ISO standards cover various topics such as quality, environment and safety.
- Inspection and testing:
DEKRA Mark is involved in multiple extensive tests regarding the safety of products and processes. They have the responsibility to guarantee this as well as possible. The tests can vary from industrial machines and product assemblies to electrical systems in buildings.
- Customized advice:
As an organization, you can contact DEKRA Mark for advice. Organizations are assisted to improve their safety and quality processes. They must comply with national and international laws and regulations.
