Connecting the thermostat cable
It is possible to connect a thermostat cable yourself, in this article we explain step by step how to do this. If you are still not sure how & what after reading the step-by-step plan, call in a professional.
Better save than sorry!
Step 1: Disconnect the power
A central heating boiler works on mains voltage, so you first pull the plug. The central heating boiler is now disconnected from the power.
Step 2: Open the boiler
Open your central heating boiler. The boiler manual often explains how this works.
Step 3: Thermostat clamps
Look for the thermostat clamps on your boiler. These look like a row of terminal blocks with a number. You can see some examples in the image below.

Step 4: Connecting the wires
Connect the wires of your cable to the terminal strips. The manual of your boiler states which wire should be connected to which terminal (read the manual of both the boiler and the thermostat carefully to prevent incorrect connection and therefore damage to the boiler and/or thermostat). Once you have done this, the boiler can be closed again.
Step 5: Testing
Plug the plug of the boiler into the socket and reset the device.
Please note: it is important to perform a reset before you test whether the thermostat works!
