The differences between USB 2.0 and USB 3.0

What are the differences between USB 2.0 and USB 3.0?
There are different USB versions (standards) that you can use. USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 are the most common versions. These USB versions differ in appearance and data transfer speed, among other things. Do you find it important to send and receive files quickly? Then choose USB 3.0. If this is less important, you can also choose the cheaper USB 2.0.
Cables with a USB 2.0 connection also work on USB 3.0 ports, and vice versa: cables with a USB 3.0 connection also work on a USB 2.0 port.
Please note : When you combine 2.0 with 3.0, only the lowest data transfer speed is possible. Keep in mind that this is always the speed of USB 2.0. After all, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.
Appearance and recognition of USB 2.0 and USB 3.0
Below you can see the differences between the USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 connectors. Within the USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 connections, different types are possible.
These are the different types of connection ports:
-
USB A: This is a simple, standard USB connection. This connection can be found on most USB cables.
The USB A is mainly used on products where data transfer is not applicable, such as computer mice and keyboards. -
USB B: This connection is mainly used for printers.
-
Mini USB: Used in older cameras, phones, and external hard drives.
-
Micro B: This is the smallest USB variant. This was often used in smartphones. This connection type is a lot flatter than the Mini USB.
-
USB C: This connection is the most recent USB variant.
